London skateparks, from the Undercroft out
London skating has its own history. Here are four free spots with addresses and details from the Southbank Centre and the Lambeth and Tower Hamlets councils. One closure note: House of Vans London under Waterloo closed in December 2022, so don't plan around it.
These are free, public spaces. Hours, closures and rules change, so check the linked official page on the day you go.
Southbank Undercroft
Under the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, Belvedere Rd, London SE1 8XX
People have skated here since 1973, and the Southbank Centre says it claims to be the world's oldest continually used skate spot. It has been protected with Long Live Southbank since 2013 and was renovated in 2017 with new lights and concrete. The nearest station is Waterloo.
Stockwell Skatepark
Stockwell Rd, London SW9 9TN
A concrete park between Brixton and Stockwell. Lambeth Council lists it as open 24 hours.
Mile End Skatepark
Rhodeswell Rd (by the railway arches), Mile End Park, London E3
Tower Hamlets describes it as heavily street-oriented, with ledges, lots of flat ground, manual pads and a hip with a ledge. There's also a small indoor section with a wooden mini ramp, a small pool-style bowl and a big flat bank, plus a small shop for hardware and drinks. A good park for working on street skills.
Victoria Park Skatepark
East side of Victoria Park, near The Hub, London E3
Tower Hamlets lists a skate park on the east side of Victoria Park, near The Hub.
Tips
- The Undercroft is busy with tourists. Keep your board under control near people walking by.
- Rain: the Undercroft and Mile End's indoor ramps are your dry options.
- BMX? See our London BMX tracks guide.
